DGC News February 2012 The Working Year Begins

Feb 1, 2012

Dear DGC Members,

Hoping everyone had a safe Holiday break, now another working year starts, if not already, we will spend a great deal time on the road going to and from work, taking the kids to school, driving here and there, which means more traffic, which means more speed traps, which means more fines, which means more loss of demerit points, below we have listed a view products that should help.

News
One of the main weapons in the road safety arsenal is the red light camera, but in some cases they seem to be causing accidents rather than preventing them.

CHEETAH C50
The Cheetah C50 fixed camera locator to alert you to all fixed cameras including red light speed cameras. Using the C50 will make you more aware of your speed, your surroundings and approaching road hazards. You'll know where to watch out for red light runners or drivers slamming on their brakes unexpectedly. And if you are distracted for any reason (mobile phone, kids, changing radio stations, etc) the safety alerts will focus your attention back onto the road when you need it most.

Laser Speed Cameras.

Laser is growing in popularity for speed enforcement for a number of reasons:

Laser is more accurate and faster at obtaining a speed reading than radar.
Laser is more versatile and laser systems do not have to be tuned, decreasing the maintenance costs.
Radar detectors don’t give users enough time to slow down against laser traps.
There are two types of laser traps used in Australia, handheld guns and speed cameras (fixed & mobile). Police in all states already use the popular handheld guns primarily in city areas and now all states have employed at least some number of laser-based speed cameras.

One such laser camera system is the Vitronic Poliscan, some of the “advantages” of these cameras for the police will be:

•   They take front and rear photos across 4 lanes of traffic both coming and going.
•   They catch speeding motorcyclists.
•   They have lane identification so they can tell which car of two cars in a photo was speeding (ie. If someone was overtaking another car).
•   They increase revenue.
•   Radar detectors do not give dependable or accurate time to slow down.

What do you need to properly guard yourself against laser traps?

ALG9 LASER DEFENCE
In all states we recommend the purchase of the ANTILASER ALG9. This unique laser defense system will help protect you against those pesky handheld guns & laser cameras.
Why is the ALG9 Park the best (and safest) option for laser defense?
•   Safe to Use: It is 100% LEGAL to use.
•   Protects Your Vehicle: The G9 Park is a laser-based parking sensor that also runs on the 905nm light spectrum. Laser parking helps ensure that you don’t run into other obstructions - keeps your car looking great.
•   Responsible Reaction to Interference: If interference with other laser systems occurs, the G9 Park automatically turns itself off after 4 or 8 seconds (user defined) - making it the most responsible device on the market as it will not continue to interfere with other laser equipment. Driver is notified when interference with other laser systems is occurring.
•   No Jamming Codes: Does not activate jamming code in Australian police laser guns. (because it is not a jammer)
